Ongeri L, et al. – This cross–sectional study discussed the research gap by characterizing potential risk factors for suicidal ideation (SI) in a large general medical outpatient setting in rural Kenya. The findings showed that the prevalence of SI and its strong association with an actual suicide attempt in this population, make an urgent public health case for intervention. This information identifies major depressive disorder (MDD) as a highly significant correlate of SI.
