Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology May 03, 2021
Lim SY, Betzler BK, Yip LWL, et al. - Because the comparative efficacy of standalone XEN45 Gel Sent implantation (“Standalone XEN45”) and combined XEN-phacoemulsification surgery (“XEN45-Phaco”) remains unknown, researchers sought to appraise current literature to compare the effectiveness of Standalone XEN45 and XEN45-Phaco in open-angle glaucoma. A comprehensive search of PubMed, CINAHL, CENTRAL databases was conducted with the terms “Xen surgery” followed by selective vetting. Ten studies were involved. In the early postoperative period, up to 6 months after surgery, standalone XEN45 has superior IOP-lowering outcomes vs XEN45-Phaco.
