Stability of tapered and parallel-walled dental implants: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research Jun 01, 2018
Atieh MA, et al. - Experts conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the implant stability of tapered dental implants vs standard parallel-walled dental implants. Findings suggested that compared to parallel-walled dental implants, there was limited evidence to demonstrate the efficacy of tapered dental implants in achieving greater implant stability. A significantly less marginal bone loss was seen in the tapered dental implants compared to parallel-walled dental implants. In maintaining peri-implant marginal bone with tapered dental implants, superior short-term results were possible.
