Short term results of dynamic splinting for hallux valgus – A prospective randomized study

Foot and Ankle Surgery Jan 25, 2019

Plaass C, et al. - A sum of 70 cases were studied in this prospective randomized trial to assess the short term consequences of dynamic splinting for hallux valgus. Investigators estimated clinical and radiological parameters among those treated with a dynamic splint and those who underwent no treatment for hallux valgus. They observed no significant variations in hallux valgus angle, intermetatarsal I–II angle, AOFAS score, FAOS or SF-36 score between the 2 groups. Although, they noted relief in pain after wearing a dynamic hallux valgus splint but no influence over hallux valgus position was recorded.
