Journal of Arthroplasty May 17, 2018
Boddapati V, et al. - Authors sought to ascertain how rates of perioperative complications, operative duration, and postoperative length of stay (LOS) in patients undergoing revision total hip arthroplasty (THA) for periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) compare to primary THA and to revision THA for non-PJI. Experts noted an association of revision THA for PJI with increased postoperative complications, non-home discharge, and length of stay in comparison to non-PJI revision THA. For patients with PJI, consideration of separate care pathways and reimbursement bundles was suggested.
