Shifting from oral contraceptives to norethisterone acetate, or vice versa, because of drug intolerance: Does the change benefit women with endometriosis?

Vercellini P, et al. - Researchers here investigated if shifting from low-dose oral contraceptives (OC) to norethisterone acetate (NETA) (2.5 mg/day), or vice versa, improved tolerability among women with Endometriosis. They found that shifting from OC to NETA, or vice versa, because of side effects, improved tolerability in selected endometriosis patients. When substituting NETA with OC rather than the other way round, better results were observed.
