Serum levels of tumor necrosis factor alpha in patients with IgA nephropathy are closely associated with disease severity
BMC Nephrology Nov 19, 2018
Li G, et al. - Experts evaluated the correlations between serum tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) and disease severity in patients with IgA nephropathy (IgAN). They measured the concentrations of serum TNF-α of 147 patients with IgAN and 126 healthy subjects by chemiluminescence immunoassay. Findings suggested that for evaluating the disease severity in IgAN, serum levels of TNF-α detected by chemiluminescence immunoassay was a potential biomarker. In patients with IgAN, serum levels of TNF-α were higher than that in healthy subjects. Discrimination of TNF-α was better between patients with IgAN and healthy controls than estimated glomerular filtration rate; as seen in the receiver operating characteristic curve analysis.
