Serum C-reactive protein level is not associated with prostatic inflammation but with overactive detrusor in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia
Neurourology and Urodynamics Jun 09, 2019
Inamura S, et al. - In order to investigate how serum C-reactive protein (CRP) level is related to the magnitude of prostatic inflammation, researchers assessed the tissue specimens of 121 benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) patients who underwent surgery for BPH and preoperative measurement of the serum CRP level. Further, they determined how CRP influences the severity of lower urinary tract symptoms. Outcomes revealed a significant correlation of serum CRP level with storage dysfunction. In contrast, serum CRP level was not identified as a surrogate marker of prostatic inflammation.
