Serum biotin and zinc in male androgenetic alopecia

El-Esawy FM, et al. - Authors analyzed 60 male androgenetic alopecia (MAGA) cases and 60 age, sex, and body mass index-matched healthy cohorts to assess the importance of serum zinc and biotin levels as supplements in the MAGA treatment. They observed a lower value of zinc (µg/dL) among the MAGA candidates. they noted a positive significant association between serum zinc and serum biotin but no correlation with age and disease duration was observed. Hence, they recommended the use of zinc. Change in hair quality and texture was also noticed while biotin supplementation in MAGA treatment.
