Serum bile acids in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma
Journal of Glaucoma Aug 10, 2018
Jacob MM, et al. - In patients with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG), experts measured the serum bile acids (SBA) in comparison with nonglaucomatous controls. Findings suggested that in the oxidative stress and apoptosis involved in the pathophysiology of POAG, “bile acids” may have a role. In POAG patients, the median SBA level was more vs the control group; the difference was statistically significant. In the study, the age or sex of the participants was not seen to affect the median SBA level.
