Marupally AG, et al. - This study comprised of the quantification of hard exudates in colour fundus photographs, in patients diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy. An acceptable qualitative and quantitative accuracy was yielded with the proposed method semi-automated algorithm, on a heterogeneous dataset. The quantitative analysis performed based on intra- and inter-observer grading demonstrated that proposed methodology identified the HEs more accurately than previously reported ImageJ-based technique. This algorithm also detected faint HEs, in contrast with the earlier method.
