Self-reported minor infections in patients with hidradenitis suppurativa and healthy controls
Clinical and Experimental Dermatology Oct 13, 2017
Riis PT, et al. - This trial incorporated a comparative assessment of the opportunistic infections in patients with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) against a group of healthy controls (HCs). It was reported that symptoms compatible with minor infections in general, and the common cold and genital herpes, in particular, were often experienced in patients with HS. This, in turn, led to more GP visits and more sick days. In order to ascertain if this was caused by an immunological hyper-reactive state in such patients or a reduced threshold for minor infections, additional research was warranted.
