Self-perception in preschool children with deprivation amblyopia and its association with deficits in vision and fine motor skills
JAMA Ophthalmology Nov 18, 2020
Birch EE, Castañeda YS, Cheng-Patel CS, et al. - Researchers conducted this cross-sectional study to ascertain if deprivation amblyopia is correlated with altered self-perception in preschool children and to determine if any variations in self-perception are linked to vision or motor skill deficits. This investigation was carried out at a pediatric vision research laboratory from 2016 to 2019. Children aged 3 to 6 years were recruited, including 15 children with deprivation amblyopia and 20 control children. Lower self-perception of peer acceptance and physical competence has been linked to early visual deprivation in children's daily lives.
