Seated saline infusion test in predicting subtype diagnosis of primary aldosteronism
Clinical Endocrinology Nov 16, 2019
Kaneko H, Umakoshi H, Ishihara Y, et al. - In the present study, the researchers tested the reliability of seated saline infusion test (SSIT) in determining the primary aldosteronism (PA) subtypes vs adrenocorticotropic hormone stimulation test under dexamethasone suppression (Dex-AT). Participants in the study were 64 patients with PA who had both SSIT and Dex-AT. In the subtype diagnosis of PA, SSIT has superior accuracy vs Dex-AT. Findings suggested that SSIT can be a sensitive test to determine patients who need preoperative adrenal venous sampling.
