Seated saline infusion test in predicting subtype diagnosis of primary aldosteronism
Clinical Endocrinology Oct 24, 2019
Kaneko H, Umakoshi H, Ishihara Y, et al. - In this investigation involving 64 patients, researchers assessed the accuracy of seated saline infusion test (SSIT) in determining the primary aldosteronism (PA) subtypes vs adrenocorticotropic hormone stimulation test under dexamethasone suppression (Dex-AT). The study sample consisted of patients with PA who had both SSIT and Dex-AT. In the subtype diagnosis of PA, SSIT has superior accuracy compared with Dex-AT. Findings suggested that SSIT can be a sensitive test to determine patients who need preoperative AVS.
