Salivary leptin levels in normal weight and overweight individuals and their correlation with orthodontic tooth movement

Jayachandran T, et al. - Experts aspired to evaluate and compare the concentration of leptin in saliva between normal weight and overweight individuals and to assess the rate of orthodontic tooth movement. Greater salivary leptin concentration was observed in overweight individuals. In both normal and overweight individuals, they found a positive correlation between salivary leptin concentration and rate of tooth movement. As compared with normal weight individuals, the rate of tooth movement was decreased in overweight individuals.
