Safety and efficacy outcomes of combined leadless pacemaker and atrioventricular nodal ablation for atrial fibrillation using a single femoral puncture approach
Heart, Lung, and Circulation May 10, 2020
Chieng D, Lee F, Ireland K, et al. - Researchers undertook a retrospective review to assess results in a case series of patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) who had undergone combined Micra Transcatheter Pacing System [TPS] and atrioventricular nodal (AVN) ablation, performed via a single femoral approach. This study involved overall 14 patients who had concurrent Micra TPS insertion and AVN ablation for symptomatic AF. Experts noted that no acute procedural/device related complication occurred. Overall, findings revealed the feasibility, along with good safety as well as efficacy profile in the short–medium term, of combined leadless permanent pacemaker (Micra TPS) implantation and AVN ablation employing a single femoral approach.
