Rotator cuff contact pressures at the tendon-implant interface after anatomic total shoulder arthroplasty using a metal-backed glenoid component
Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Jun 29, 2018
Thomas R, et al. - Researchers assessed the contact pressure between the rotator cuff tendons and prosthesis following anatomic total shoulder arthroplasty and compared these with the tendon-contact pressures in the native shoulder. Significantly larger tendon contact pressures relative to those in the native shoulder resulted with anatomic total shoulder arthroplasty. Rotator cuff tendons may be ultimately predisposed to postoperative wear-induced damage and tearing with high tendon contact pressures.
