Risk prediction in infective endocarditis by modified MELD-XI score
European Journal of Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases Jun 28, 2018
He PC, et al. - The prognostic value of the model for end-stage liver disease excluding international normalized ratio (MELD-XI) and modified MELD-XI score was assessed for patients with infective endocarditis (IE). They consecutively enrolled and classified 858 patients with IE into two groups: MELD-XI ≤ 10 (n=588) and MELD-XI > 10 (n=270). Patients with modified MELD-XI score > 13 vs those without demonstrated significantly higher cumulative frequency of long-term mortality (median 29 months). Independent association of modified MELD-XI score with long-term mortality was noted. In IE, utility of MELD-XI score as a risk assessment tool was confirmed, and modified MELD-XI score remained a simple and more efficacious tool for predicting poor prognosis.
