Reproductive BioMedicine Online | Nov 30, 2017
Matorras R, et al. - The aim of this study was to ascertain the incidence of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) after intrauterine insemination (IUI). The analysis reported a low (0.16/1000) PID rate after IUI. It was about 40% higher than reported in the general population of women during their reproductive life. Researchers did not recommend prophylactic antibiotic therapy unless there is a pre-existing risk factor.
