Risk of metabolic disorders in childless men: A population-based cohort study

BMJ Open Aug 23, 2018

Bungum AB, et al. - Researchers performed a population-based cohort study to assess if male childlessness is associated with an increased risk of metabolic disorders such as metabolic syndrome (MetS) and diabetes. From the population-based Malmö Diet and Cancer Cardiovascular Cohort, they studied 2572 men. Evidence was gained suggesting an association between male childlessness and a higher risk of MetS and diabetes. However, as cross-sectional analyses identified these associations, reverse causation cannot be excluded.
