Risk factors for hospitalization and mortality due to dengue fever in a Mexican population: A retrospective cohort study.

Fonseca-Portilla R, et al. - Identification of risk factors linked with increased hospital admission and mortality due to dengue fever (DF) can aid in categorization of patients that require close monitoring and inpatient care.
The analysis was performed including a total of 24,495 patients.
DF case fatality rate was 0.58%.
Risk of both hospitalization and mortality due to DF was greater for patients younger than 10 and older than 60.
Risk for hospital admission was increased in correlation with comorbidities including cirrhosis, CKD, immunosuppression, diabetes, and hypertension.
Risk factors for mortality were CKD, diabetes, and hypertension, along with pregnancy.
