Risk factors for health careâassociated infection in hospitalized adults: Systematic review and meta-analysis
American Journal of Infection Control | Oct 16, 2017
Rodríguez-Acelas AL, et al. - Authors systematically reviewed the literature and meta-analyzed studies investigating risk factors (RFs) independently associated with Health careÂassociated infections (HAIs) in hospitalized adults. The major RFs having independent association with HAIs included diabetes mellitus, immunosuppression, body temperature, surgery time in minutes, reoperation, cephalosporin exposure, days of exposure to central venous catheter, intensive care unit (ICU) admission, ICU stay in days, and mechanical ventilation. Identifying these factors could support the implementation of strategies for HAIs prevention, therefore maximizing patient safety.
