Risk factors for amendment in type, duration and setting of prescribed outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT) for adult patients with cellulitis: A retrospective cohort study and CART analysis
Postgraduate Medical Journal Sep 11, 2017
Quirke M, et al. - An estimation was carried out of the percentage rate and risk factors for amendment in the type, duration and setting of outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT), for the treatment of cellulitis. A correlation was disclosed between increased age, Numerical Pain Scale Score (NPSS) and immunocompromise with OPAT amendment. Such risk factors possibly supported an evidence-based approach for selection of the patient for OPAT in cellulitis. The classification and regression tree (CART) algorithm reported good specificity albeit lacked sensitivity. It appeared to be inferior to logistic regression modelling.
