The Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery Jan 23, 2018

Vural S, et al. - In patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM), properties of nails, frequency of ingrown nails, risk factors for developing ingrown nails, and impact of diabetic polyneuropathy and vasculopathy on the development and outcome of ingrown nails, were assessed in this study. A greater prevalence of ingrown nails was reported in DM patients, in comparison with the healthy individuals. Findings reflected an influence of nail type, nail morphology, and diabetic vasculopathy on the formation and evolution of ingrown nails.
