Remission in psoriatic arthritis: Definition and predictors
Seminars in Arthritis and Rheumatism Feb 13, 2020
Alharbi S, Ye JY, Lee KA, et al. - This study was conducted to ascertain the frequency of remission defined by the absence of the various disease manifestations of psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and distinguish predictors for remission. Between 2000 and 2015, individuals followed at the PsA clinic were enrolled. Individuals are estimated at 6- to 12-month intervals according to a standard protocol. Researchers selected data from 985 individuals (57% males, the average age of 47.4 years) in this study. The data indicated that remission happened at least once in 18% of the individuals with PsA while sustained remission occurred in 9% of the study sample. Having a higher BMI would decrease the performance of remission. For at least 12 months, the use of biologic agents raised not only the chance of remission but also the chance of sustained remission.
