Relationship of periodontal disease and domains of Oral Health-related quality of life

Masood M, et al. - National representative data of 6378 participants from the 2009 Adult Dental Health Survey, United Kingdom, were examined to assess the influence of periodontal disease on the domains of oral health-related quality of life. They observed a significant link of periodontal pocketing to higher Oral Health Impact Profile-14 (OHIP-14) scores. Candidates with periodontal pocket depths >3.5mm were noticed with a significantly higher prevalence for OHIP-14 domains ie, functional limitation, physical pain, social disability, and handicap.
