Relationship between clinical and histologic periodontal biotypes in humans

The International Journal of Periodontics & Restorative Dentistry Aug 31, 2017

Motta SHG, et al. – This study investigated the association between clinical and histologic periodontal biotypes in humans. Findings revealed that gingival transparency seemed to be an adequate, clinically beneficial method to classify the gingival biotype. The thin gingival biotype is manifested by decreased connective tissue thickness. Hence, biotype conversion or enhancement might be based on augmentation of the connective tissue portion of the gingival tissues.
