Journal of the American Heart Association Mar 28, 2019
Jong CB, et al. - In this study involving 1,193 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and acute coronary syndrome, researchers determined the impact of various antidiabetic treatments on the link between body mass index and all-cause mortality. According to findings, in this patient population, the link between body mass index and mortality rate is U-shaped—with class I obesity representing the nadir and normal weight the peak. In patients treated with insulin, the protective effect of obesity against mortality disappeared.
