Rehabilitation following lumbar fusion surgery (REFS) a randomized controlled feasibility study
European Spine Journal Feb 27, 2019
Greenwood J, et al. - In this prospective, single-center, randomized, controlled trial, researchers estimated 58 persons to evaluate the utility as well as the clinical and economic influence of a theoretically informed rehabilitation programme following lumbar fusion surgery (LFS)(REFS). They noticed a decline in unadjusted mean short-term disability (− 13.27 ± 13.46) in REFS cases. Adjusted for body mass index, baseline depression, and smoking status, they reported a statistically significant short-term improvement in disability and pain self-efficacy. They recorded £275 per participant, the cost of REFS.
