Reassessment of H&E stained clot specimens and immunohistochemistry of phosphorylated Stat5 for histological diagnosis of MDS/MPN
Pathology Jan 27, 2018
Tsuruyama T, et al. - In the current study, researchers examined the utility of bone marrow clot specimens for histological diagnosis of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative neoplasm (MDS/MPN) using haematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining and immunohistochemistry. Findings suggested the utility of H&E staining for identification of dysplastic cells. Moreover, phosphorylated Stat5 immunostaining was sufficiently useful for the observation of myelodysplastic blasts despite the loss of tissue structure. Thus, for diagnosis of haematopoietic dysplasia, clot specimens were useful.
