Rate of central corneal thickness changes in primary angle closure eyes: Long-term follow-up results
BMC Ophthalmology Mar 28, 2021
Park HM, Choi J, Lee WJ, et al. - In this retrospective study, researchers sought to examine the long-term change of central corneal thickness (CCT) in terms of rate in eyes with primary angle-closure (PAC), as well as to analyze events that could affect CCT. Twenty-six patients with PAC who had a follow-up period of more than 5 years were analyzed. The rate of CCT changes from baseline was assessed from the serial CCT measurements over the average follow-up period. In total, 52 eyes were enrolled. Over a long period of observation, the authors discovered a significant reduction in CCT in PAC eyes. They also observed that different treatment modalities or acute angle-closure attacks had no effect on the rates of CCT reduction. Long-term CCT changes, in addition to baseline CCT, would be beneficial in the clinical evaluation of PAC patients.
