Rate control and clinical outcomes in patients with atrial fibrillation and obstructive lung disease
Heart Rhythm Jul 11, 2018
You SC, et al. - Researchers used the entire database provided by the National Health Insurance Service from 2002 to 2015 to assess the therapeutic effect of each class of rate-control medication, as reflected by clinical outcomes, in patients with concomitant atrial fibrillation (AF) and obstructive lung disease (OLD) (AF-OLD). They carried out Cox regression analyses after propensity score matching to compare the risk of all-cause mortality between use of calcium channel blocker (CCB) and use of drugs in other classes. They found that relative to CCB use, selective and non-selective β-blocker used as the rate-control treatment in patients with AF-OLD was associated with a significant attenuation in mortality.
