British Journal of Ophthalmology Jan 13, 2021
Li ALW, Li SL, Kam KW, et al. - Researchers conducted the study for assessing the impacts of manuka honey eye-drops in the treatment of meibomian gland dysfunction. This was an assessor-masked (single-blind), randomised controlled trial contrasting conventional treatment group with interventional group utilizing Optimel 16% manuka honey topical eye-drops. Fifty-nine patients were selected to the study and randomised into two groups: one given regular lubricants and the other given Optimel 16% manuka honey eye-drops. Optimel 16% manuka honey eye-drops have demonstrated substantial improvement in meibomian gland dysfunction symptoms and objective signs and are an efficient alternative treatment for meibomian gland dysfunction.
