Pure stress urinary incontinence: Analysis of prevalence, estimation of costs, and financial impact

Rubilotta E, et al. - A single cohort of 544 women who underwent urodynamic investigation (UDI) for urinary incontinence (UI) was carried out by the contributors to determine the prevalence of pure stress urinary incontinence (P-SUI); the similarity between clinical diagnosis of P-SUI and urodynamic findings; and the costs analysis in terms of UDI and eventually post-UDI avoided surgical procedures. 20% of women with clinical SUI, relevant prevalence of clinical P-SUI was noted. To avoid inappropriate surgical treatment, UDI help in some cases could be demonstrated. Although high correspondence between clinical and urodynamic diagnosis was also concluded.
