Psychiatric disorders, self-esteem, and quality of life in adolescents with polycystic ovary syndrome

Çoban OG, et al. - Adolescents with polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS) were examined for the prevalence of psychiatric disorders. In addition, health-related quality of life and self-esteem were evaluated in this group. At the setting of the University School of Medicine, Turkey, researchers recruited a total of 28 adolescent with PCOS and 31 age- and sex-matched healthy peers. Psychiatric disorders were frequently evident among adolescents with PCOS. Major depressive disorder was identified to be the most common single disorder in the patient group (21%).
