Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Jan 14, 2020
Yeh TC, Chien WC, Chung CH, et al. - A register-based, researchers designed the retrospective cohort study in order to examine the risk of psychiatric disorders following TBI and to clarify whether the post-TBI rehabilitation was correlated with a lower risk of developing psychiatric disorders. They involved 231,894 individuals with TBI and 695,682 controls. In comparison with the control group, the incidence rate of psychiatric disorders was greater in the TBI group. In contrast with the control group, the risk of psychiatric disorders in the TBI group was two-fold (HR = 2.056). It was found that TBI was correlated with a high risk for developing psychiatric disorders and that post-TBI rehabilitation notably decreased the risk of psychiatric disorders in a dose-dependent manner.
