Psoas muscle volume is correlated with sexual activity and erectile dysfunction among patients with localized prostate cancer
Andrologia Sep 11, 2019
Kashiwagi E, Imada K, Monji K, et al. - In order to ascertain whether body composition calculated by CT measurements was helpful for estimating sexual function, researchers assessed sexual function of localized prostate cancer patients using the Sexual Health Inventory for Men score, an original questionnaire, and CT and MRI. The imaging was conducted to determine body composition, especially the psoas muscle. Univariate and multivariate analyses were done to recognize factors influencing sexual activity. The multivariate analysis exhibited that the volume of the psoas muscle was significantly associated with sexual activity and erectile dysfunction. Thus, it was concluded that the psoas muscle is a significant predictor of sexual activity and erectile function.
