Prophylactic intracameral levofloxacin in cataract surgery – An evaluation of safety

Espiritu CR, et al. - The objective of this work was to investigate the posterior and anterior segment safety of an intracameral injection of levofloxacin 0.5% ophthalmic solution as prophylaxis for patients undergoing cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation. No safety concerns arose with an intracameral injection of levofloxacin 0.5%, prophylactically, following cataract surgery. In order to illustrate the effectiveness in endophthalmitis prevention, additional studies were warranted.
