Progression of frailty and prevalence of osteoporosis in a community cohort of older women: A 10-year longitudinal study
Osteoporosis International Jun 15, 2018
Bartosch P, et al. - Authors conducted a study to understand the distribution of frailty among a population-based sample of older community-dwelling women, progression over 10 years, and correlation with mortality and osteoporosis. As a tool to predict mortality, the frailty index was highly useful, thereby demonstrating a threefold increased risk of death in the frailest both in a shorter and longer perspective. After 10 years, in ten older women, only one escaped progression. Findings suggested an association between frailty and osteoporosis.
