Aida J, et al. - The histopathologic risk factors for lymph node metastasis (LNM) and the difference between the risk factors for Japanese patients and the conventional risk factors documented for Western patients were determined. Barrett's carcinoma (BC) without invasion to the deep muscularis mucosae (DMM) presented with virtually no risk of LNM, as disclosed through the histopathologic examination. For prognostication, a comprehensive histopathologic analysis of thin-slice preparations of endoscopic resection (ER) specimens was regarded as highly significant.
