Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus Jan 29, 2019
Dotan G, et al. - A total of 198 children, mean age of 6.3 ± 4.7 years and mean follow-up of 4.8 ± 3.1 years were examined to estimate the prevalence of strabismus in neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF-1) at a single medical center between 2000 and 2016. Investigators observed strabismus in 15% of total cases More prevalence was found in children with NF-1 with optic pathway glioma (27%) as compared to those with normal neuroimaging. About 57% of subjects with optic pathway glioma were recorded with sensory strabismus. However, the most common ocular misalignment associated with optic pathway glioma was exotropia.
