Prevalence of psoriatic arthritis patients achieving minimal disease activity in real-world studies and randomized clinical trials: systematic review with metaanalysis
The Journal of Rheumatology Jun 05, 2020
Zardin-Moraes M, da Silva ALFA, Saldanha C, et al. - This study was undertaken to investigate the frequency of patients with psoriatic arthritis (PsA) achieving minimal disease activity (MDA) status in real-world studies and randomized controlled trials (RCT). Between 2009 and 2017, researchers carried out a systematic literature search PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and LILACS. Two independent researchers conducted study selection and data extraction. They conducted random-effects single-arm metaanalyses and evaluated heterogeneity using I2. The study included 405 records and examined 45 studies: 39 (86.7%) observational studies and 6 (13.3%) RCT; they included 12,469 patients. Compared with those in controlled clinical trials, patients with PsA included in real-world studies had similar prevalence of MDA. The data imply that MDA is a beneficial treatment target for PsA in the real-world setting.
