Prevalence of cilioretinal arteries: A systematic review and a prospective cross‐sectional observational study
Acta Ophthalmologica May 08, 2021
Schneider M, Molnar A, Angeli O, et al. - In the present study, the researchers sought to evaluate the overall prevalence of cilioretinal arteries (CLRA) in previously reported studies with more than 100 patients published and to determine the prevalence of CLRA in a Hungarian Caucasian population using non‐mydriatic fundus photographs. The prevalence of CLRA differs depending on the method of identification. Unilateral presence, like temporal location, is unequivocally more common. High-quality studies are uncommon in terms of bias risk. The data on the distribution pattern of CLRA are comparable to those found in the international literature. Based on the results, the authors estimate that slightly more than one‐third of the Hungarian Caucasian population has a CLRA.
