Prevalence of cilioretinal arteries: A systematic review and a prospective cross‐sectional observational study
Acta Ophthalmologica Aug 28, 2020
Schneider M, Molnar A, Angeli O, et al. - Using non‐mydriatic fundus photographs, researchers sought to examine studies concentrating on cilioretinal arteries (CLRA) to evaluate the overall prevalence and establish the prevalence of CLRA in a Hungarian Caucasian population. According to this systematic review and a prospective cross‐sectional observational study, CLRA prevalence varies according to the method of identification. Unilateral presence similarly to the temporal location is unequivocally more frequent. High‐quality studies are rare from risk of bias standpoint. The data on CLRA's distribution pattern is similar to that found in international literature. Based on the results, it is assumed that slightly more than one‐third of the Hungarian Caucasian population has a CLRA.
