Prevalence, extent and severity of peri-implant diseases. A cross-sectional study based on a university setting in Brazil

Journal of Periodontal Research Jul 11, 2018

Matarazzo F, et al. - Among patients treated in a university setting in Brazil, the prevalence, extent and severity of peri-implant diseases were estimated. The studied population displayed similar prevalence, extent and severity of the peri-implant diseases compared to those reported elsewhere. Researchers noted a common occurrence of peri-implant diseases. Only 5.7% of patients and 10.3% of implants presented peri-implant health or clinical stability. The severe form of peri-implantitis was noted in about 17% of studied population.
