Prevalence and short‐term outcome of acute kidney injury in patients with acute‐on‐chronic liver failure: A meta‐analysis
Journal of Viral Hepatitis Mar 24, 2020
Jiang W, et al. - Researchers analyzed eight relevant articles including 3,610 patients, to determine how acute kidney injury (AKI) influences outcome of acute‐on‐chronic liver failure (ACLF). The included articles were identified from PubMed, Web of Science and Cochrane Library. In ACLF patients, the prevalence of AKI was found to be 41%. A significant link was identified between the presence of AKI and 1‐month mortality of ACLF and 3‐month mortality. According to the findings of this meta‐analysis, nearly 40% of ACLF patients complicated with AKI. A substantial rise in the short‐term mortality was reported in relation to the presence of AKI. The observed response rate of vasoconstrictors for hepatorenal syndrome‐AKI was poor.
