Prenatal growth and CKD in older adults: Longitudinal findings from the Helsinki birth cohort study, 1924-1944

Eriksson JG, et al. – Researchers in this study aimed at determining prenatal growth and chronic kidney disease (CKD) in older adults. Findings suggested a link between smaller body size at birth and increased risk of developing CKD in men, however, in women, an association was found between prematurity and increased risk for CKD. In light of these outcomes, they supported the importance of early life factors in the development of CKD.
