Normand G, et al. - Researchers assessed ­pregnancy outcomes in French hemodialysis (HD) patients included in this descriptive, retrospective, multi-centric study. The primary outcome was a living infant discharged from hospital, while secondary outcomes included gestational age and birth weight. In this one of the largest series of ­pregnancies in HD patients, it was shown that these pregnancies remained at high risk despite recent progresses. The primary outcome was met for 78% of newborns with a mean gestational age of 33.2 ± 3.9 weeks and a mean birth weight of 1,719 ± 730 g. This finding strengthens the need for an early nephrologist-obstetrician skilled team co-management.
