Pregnancy outcome in women after total hip replacement: A population-based study
European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology May 25, 2019
Kuitunen I, et al. - From four national registries in Finland, researchers collected data for this nationwide register-based cohort study examining pregnancy outcomes among females who had undergone total hip replacement (THR). They selected the females who had undergone THR forming the patient group, and three controls for each patient without THR. Outcomes revealed an enhanced risk of stillbirth, small for gestational age, low birthweight and preterm birth for neonates born after maternal total hip replacement. The cases with the trial of labor showed a higher likelihood for ending in an emergency cesarean section.
